Day 1. Arrive to Baltra Island where our representative will be waiting for you to transfer you to Santa Cruz Island. Our hotel is situated in Puerto Ayora town.

After lunch in the hotel’s restaurant we start our first guided excursion to El Chato giant tortoise reserve. The reserve is located in the highlands of the island, where climate and vegetation are very different from those on the lower areas. Giant tortoises live in the tropical rainforest of the highlands where water and vegetation are abundant. A small natural lagoon - El Chato - is the place where we usually observe them relaxing or taking a bath. Many bird species, such as finches, herons and the vermilion flycatcher nest and feed around the lagoon.

  • At the end of the excursion to El Chato we’ll visit a natural lava tunnel. Return to the hotel in Puerto Ayora.

Day 2. Breakfast in the hotel.

1-hour navigation to Santa Fe island situated South-East of Santa Cruz. This small island is known for its endemic giant cactus forest and its large colony of sea lions. Many bird species can be observed directly from the boat: blue-footed boobies, gulls, pelicans are just some of them.

The quiet bay with turquoise-colored water is a perfect place to snorkel among tropical fish, manta rays, sea lions and marine turtles. We’ll eventually see the white-tipped sharks and the endemic Galapagos hawk.

  • Lunch will be served on board. Afterwards we’ll navigate about 30 minutes to the Hidden Beach, a perfect place to enjoy the sun, swim and snorkel again in the quiet bay. Return to Puerto Ayora around 16:30pm.

Day 3. Breakfast in the hotel. At 7:30 we’ll board public boat and travel for about 3 hours from Santa Cruz to Isabela Island. Our first excursion upon arrival is the small artificial lagoon where flamingos can be seen. A short break to enjoy the white sand beach of Puerto Villamil, and we continue to the town to have lunch in one of the local restaurants.

  • Our next excursion is aboard a dingy and the goal is to see the white-tipped sharks, a colony of marine iguanas and the endemic Galapagos penguins that rest and feed around the small Tintoreras islet. We can also snorkel here among tropical fish, rays and sharks. Dinner in the hotel in Puerto Villamil town is included.
  • Day 4. Breakfast in the hotel. Guided hike to Sierra Negra and Chico volcanoes. The largest and one of the youngest islands of the Galapagos Archipelago, Isabela has 6 volcanoes. Today we’ll be visiting 2 of them. Sierra Negra is one of the most important reserves for giant tortoises, land iguanas and birds. A breathtaking view of the active volcanic crater covered with recent black lava (last eruption in October 2005) of Sierra Negra is the prize for those who ventured to hike uphill the well marked trail. Sierra Negra is also the second largest volcanic crater in the world, its diameter is around 6 miles (10 km). Return to Puerto Villamil and board public boat to travel to Santa Cruz. Hotel in Puerto Ayora.

Day 5. Breakfast in the hotel. Bay tour of Puerto Ayora offers great snorkeling among playful sea lions, marine turtles and colorful fish. Several bird species can be seen on cliffs right from the boat.

Next we’ll visit Punta Estrada where small colonies of blue-footed boobies and pelicans nest on the cliffs. A short walk will take us to the viewpoint where sharks can be seen from a safe place 15 meters above the sea.

  • To finish an exciting day we’ll visit the beach where large colonies of marine iguanas, red crabs and lava herons can be seen. We’ll also swim in Las Grietas – a quite natural clear water lagoon, and relax on the beach to enjoy the sun of the Galapagos. Hotel in Puerto Ayora.

Day 6. Early wake up and breakfast in the hotel. At 7am you’ll take the bus to drive to the Itabaca channel that separates Santa Cruz from Baltra Island. From there, a 2-hour boat trip will take us to Plazas Island.

  • This small rectangular island can be walked through to observe sea lions, land iguanas and birds nesting along the cliff or fighting for food in the air upon our heads. Blue footed boobies and Nazca boobies, tropical birds, frigate birds, pelicans and gulls are just some of the species we can see. Plazas is also famous for its unique vegetation. Giant cactus trees are just picturesque, and the ground covered with Sesuvium vegetation changes its color from bright-green in the rain season to orange and red during the dry season. Lunch on board and boat ride to Punta Carrion situated on North-east of Santa Cruz Island. We’ll snorkel in a quiet shallow bay to see tropical fish, sea lions, manta rays and eventually sharks. Return to the hotel in Puerto Ayora at 16:30.

Day 7. OPTION: NORTH SEYMOUR & BACHAS BEACH (Mondays & Thursdays)

Early wake up and breakfast in the hotel. At 7am you’ll take the bus to once again drive to the Itabaca channel. Today we’ll navigate to North Seymour, one of the most famous islands to observe birds. Wildlife here is always very active! Males of Magnificent frigate bird display their spectacular red breasts to attract females. Blue-footed boobies nest and fish near the cliffs, in some seasons we can observe their typical mating dance.

We’ll cross the island through a 2km trail to explore the rocky coast. After lunch on aboard, we’ll snorkel with sea lions, green marine turtles and eventually hammerhead sharks. In the afternoon we’ll enjoy the sun on the white-sand Bachas Beach where marine turtles nest and flamingos feed in a nearby small natural lagoon. Navigate back to Itabaca and drive with the bus to your hotel in Puerto Ayora.

Early wake-up and bus ride (6am) to Itabaca channel, where we board our boat to Bartolomé. Breakfast will be served on board. Upon arrival to the island, we’ll climb through the 114 meters high staircase to the summit of a hill. The view from its summit is simply amazing! Two white-sand beaches and several volcanic cones with the Pinnacle Rock in the center is the most famous and representative panorama of the Galapagos Archipelago. Bartolome is an extinct volcano and it’s volcanic past can be witnessed through red, brown, orange, green and black soil layers.

We’ll take a refreshing bath and snorkel with sea turtles, riff sharks, tropical fish and other marine wildlife. There’s a small colony of the Galapagos penguins, and a place where green marine turtles nest.

  • After lunch on board, we’ll visit Sullivan Bay, a place to see interesting lava formation from the eruption of 1903, one of the eruption types that formed the Archipelago. Boat trip and bus ride back to your hotel in Puerto Ayora (5pm).

Day 8. Breakfast in the hotel. Bus or taxi ride to the airport and flight back to the mainland.
